My final idea!

I have come up with a good idea for my coursework project.

I have decided to do a double page spread of an exclusive fashion interview of a "celebrity"-and i will also have a page of fahion makeovers. I will have pictures of ordinary people before and after a make-up done by me!

I am going to ask my cousins and best friend to be the people i will have in my mag.

brief

during this week i will be concentrating on my brief. I will be doing some furthure research for my final and hopefully be clear on exactly what my teen magazine is going to be about and what the cover will look like.

Front cover...love the idea!!!

From the tittle "teen people" we can work out the target audience for this magazine are teenagers. The fact that it doesn't specify what teen-age it is aiming at makes it more open for 13 to 19 year olds to buy, ie, there is potential for a wider target audience.
The colours used combined with the images of celebreties suggests that this mag is aimed at glossygirls who are into fashion (hence the diet tips to "get your best body ever").
From the text used it is clear and easy to work out the topics covered in this issue which means that the buyer doesn't have to spend too much time trying to work out whether to buy it or not as the temptation would overcome them.

QUESTIONAIRE

Name:.........................................
Age:............................................
Gender:......................................

1) Do you read magazines on a regular basis?

2) What sort of magazines interest you?

3) If you were to read a magazine, what topics would you be interested in?

4) What topics do you least want to read about?

5) What type of magazines do you least want to read?

...and why?

6) What sort of magazines do you find most eye catching when you see them at the news agents?

7) How much do you agree that the most important part of the magazine is the front cover (interms of gaining interest and trust from customers)?

8) Do you feel that there are not many topics and magazines aimed at your gender/age?

Result!

I have found from the research i have done that most magazines of everyage are aimed at females and that there aren't many men magazines. This could be due to the fact that men don't bother much about magazines and so i feel that i should try aiming my magazine towards the market that already exists to prevent any risks of not having a market for my magazine.

However, it may also be a good idea to do a magazine for men as there is the huge gap that i could fill. The only pull back factor is that there is not many topics to cover when it comes to what men are interested in, though i may find something interesting after i do some research into men's magazines.

As part of my research i have decided to do a questionare aimed at teenagers around 16-19 to find out their interests and what sort of topics they would like to read in a magazine. When i get my research back i will have furthure knowledge of what teenagers are interested in and what i could do for my magazine.

A new idea!!!

My ideas have now changed and i am aiming to do a teen magazine. I will direct the magazine towards the elderly teenagers of around 17-19.
I have a few ideas for what topics to cover:
  • exclusive interviews of celebrities (in this issue, i could talk about chick flicks, embarrasing odeals, or expose celebrtities in their everyday lives)
  • how daring are teenagers around 17-19 with their sex life (for this issue, i could do a bit about how many teens out there feel they have a boreing sex life because they are just not daring enough or just don't know what to do when it comes to "having fun", and tips from celeberities and sex experts, or other issues teenagers face that hld them back. I could have a page of senarioz from readers of the magasine i will invent and thier solutions)
  • the ten 'must haves' this season according to J.LO.(i could make up all of this-not that i could get a real tip from her anyway!. i will cover everything from perfume, to clothing, to accesories, to footwear to makeup...even hair!)
  • Victoria's secret ( i could have an issue on Victoria Beckham telling the readers about her secrets that are exclusive only on MY magasine!!!).
  • the ten most hottest men in the planet.(For this i could do a real survey of teens of this age range and write about who they ranked as the ten most hottest TYPE of men in the planet...and it doesn't just have to be celebrities...it could be guise from the college-this magasine could be exclusive for jcc members only!!!.....or...maybe...not)
  • Maddona's crush on her daughters history teacher (an interview with maddona telling my readers about a crush she had on Mr.Jefferson Thomas, her daughetrs history teacher)
  • "love to hate" (a two page spread b.chin' about celebrities and their worst features and fashion disasters...making them sound real and like looooosaz...jus lyk U N ME! talking about their flawsand all just to make ourselves feel better about our worst features...bringing the best of ourselves to the surface!).

these are just some of the topics i would like to discuss in my teen magazine, but all in all, i want to do something shocking and funny that teenagers could re;ate and feel comforted about.

After rethinking about my idea, i decided (with some advise) that perhaps a smoking ad would not be such a good idea and so i have reconcidered and decided to look at 'child abuse' and what kind of topics that perhaps haven't been thought of or emphasised enough, i could do.

corps (stop smoking campaign)

I have an idea for what i could do for my health advert for a 'quit smoking' campaign.
I could have a domesting setting where I would have a family in a livingroom. There would be a mother and a father smoking and they have a little 6 yaer old girl. the father will be in his favourite chair and the mother and the little girl will be in one big sofa together.
The 6 year old girl will look innocent and upset, the mother and father could be in coffins (not dead...but looking like corps) talking laughing and watching t.v together. The smoke from the
ciggaretes could be in th background and it could make a faint picture of the a skeleton...or instead of that i could have the grim reaper in the background hiding in the shadows.
The setting would be quite dark and gloomy to "connote" death. This would be about how parents smoke alone thinking it wouldn't have any major effects on anyone else, but the reality is that...eventually you will die and your kids will suffer the conciquences. Smoking is a death wish...that WILL come true! and, if your a smoker...you are the walking dead...

or, i could have a kind of game show or a man thinking and the page would be split in two. One side will be dark and dingy with death in the background...the other side will have life in the background and it will be bright and cheerfull...i could have a new born baby in his/her mothers arms. and the queston will be somethinglike...what do u prefer...life o r death?...kind of thing.

analysing adverts for ideas

This is a good advert for smoking as it had a major effect on people everytime they saw it when it was first released, and i am lookin at these type of adverts for inspiration and hints towards what is effective and what isn't.
this emphasises the idea of smoking being a disguisting habbit. And the use of the darkish background makes the image seem mysterious and unpredictable. The simplisity gives the image more emphasis and directs all the attention to the "artery" with the fatty deposits in it. The use of text hepls to get the viewers involved with the issue being campaigned as it implies that this is what is happening inside our bodies when we smoke and makes us shiver with goosebumps.

what to do...what to do?

i am going to come up with some drawings of the adverts i am thinking of to see what works with what and whether or not it is doable.
I hav d.cided 2 do option no.3:
Advertising campaign for a charity OR health service, (has to be 3 adverts).
i don't hav any ideas 4 wot i am goin to focus my advert on, howeva i am goin to try n do som research into wot kinda magazinz ppl read n wich 1's woud b da best 4 my campaign.
I will also try to find out hw i coud advertise my campaign (ie. billboards, magz, newspapaz, etc)
